Update: In October 2025, the California Department of Managed Health Care adopted an Independent Medical Review (IMR) in my favor authorizing monthly, in-person Medical Nutrition Therapy. However access to approved Registered Dietitian care remains inconsistent as they have not allowed me to book continuity of care with my previous provider and will not schedule multiple visits despite my IMR saying monthly. I received great service from everyone that I encountered at the Kaiser Permanente Orange Health Pavillion and also all the Kaiser facilities that I have visited.
I’m a Kaiser Permanente member who has been trying to get access to Registered Dietitian care that was already approved by multiple family doctors and confirmed through a formal grievance resolution. Despite that, I continue to be blocked by internal gatekeeping. A non-treating care manager has interfered with my referrals and has directed front desk staff not to allow me to schedule further visits unless she approves them — something I did not consent to.
