I do short-term healthcare contracts and need furnished housing in new cities every few months. June Homes fits the model perfectly - flexible leases, furnished rooms, easy booking. My experience in Chicago was positive: clean apartment, great location, good roommates. One apartment I stayed in had a slower maintenance response than I expected (took three days instead of one), but it was resolved eventually. Four stars: strong service with minor inconsistencies.
Interned in NYC for three months and used June Homes for housing. The process was fast, the room was clean and in a great location, and the app made payments and communication easy. One minor thing: I was notified of apartment tours from prospective tenants fairly frequently toward the end of my stay, which felt a bit intrusive. Understandable from a business standpoint, but worth flagging. Otherwise - a very good experience.
I was prepared to hate coliving. Shared kitchen, shared bathroom, strangers in the hallway. I did not hate it. The people were fine, the price was right, and I left after three months with my deposit back and a contact I still talk to.
Had a billing question in my first month. Sent one email. Got a response within a day and it was sorted by the end of the week. When you are new to a city and still figuring everything out that kind of quick response actually matters.
The Greenpoint location is amazing but I think is worth the extra money they ask!! My only problem is nobody told me the laundry room closes at 10pm. I found out the hard way on a Sunday night. But the roommates are incredible, people from Kazakhstan and India and all over. This is real New York!!
The shared kitchen turned out to be the best part. Met most of the people I now call friends in NYC while making eggs at 8am. One small gripe is the closet space is genuinely tiny. I had to buy an extra rack. For nyc flat-share prices this is still very competitive.
Living at the June Homes location in Greenpoint right now and I love it here. The neighborhood is what puts it over the top - the streets, the food, the general energy. If you're weighing locations and the Greenpoint option is $200 more per month, just pay it. Seriously, don't overthink it. The apartment itself is clean, furnished, all utilities handled, no surprises. But the neighborhood is why I stay. June Homes was my first place in NYC. Came here without a credit history or guarantor and they made it work. Nothing fancy but clean, managed properly, and way less stressful than trying to navigate the regular rental market.
I lived in a June Homes apartment in Brooklyn for about 6 months, and it was a really smooth experience from the start.
