1/28/2025 - 49 years old, I sat bawling in a KP parking lot after an office visit w/my PA who shot down my perimenopause low estrogen concerns. I saw Dr. Pretcher as she was listed as a menopause specialist but cannot recommend her if you are needing care for menopause. Once I finally figured out it was menopause/hormonal, my PCP started me on low dose HRT until I could get in with a specialist. As KP recommended, I attended the menopause course and was surprised there was no mention on the impact on the brain/mental health. I finally found a gyno I like! Excellent bedside manner, was really calming and personable. Didn’t feel rushed, gave an appropriate amount of information. I’m queer and I felt comfortable there. Of course there’s always some questions around birth control that assume you’re having sex that could lead to pregnancy, but I’m pretty sure those are Kaiser standard questions. 5 stars for Dr Pretcher and staff, 0 stars for Kaiser’s queer friendliness...
