My Family Medicine doctor recommended Dr. Whorton a year ago or so ago to help me with a swallowing problem I have had since childhood and had worsened until he treated me at age 71. Certain foods had tended to 'stick' in my esophagus and wouldn't go down resulting in my having to 'regurgitate' to relieve the condition. Dr. Whorton has been my GI doctor for several years. While I know he is very busy, he goes above and beyond to give you the time needed to get all your questions answered. While I will always have Crohn’s Disease, I feel like my symptoms are managed so well that I often forget I have the disease until it’s time to give myself a shot once every 8 weeks. I am so thankful to have Dr. Whorton over seeing my GI health. Highly recommend him and his staff.
Dr. Wharton is direct and to the point, takes the time to listen, I never have felt rushed, his staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.
Dr. Whorton took all the time I needed in our consultation and did a colonoscopy/EGD for me and everything went great!! Very friendly and kind.

Great doctor but stopped the HealthChoice Select program and I was due for a colonoscopy. Switched to DDSI (who took HealthChoice Select) and the colonoscopy was rushed and made too feel like I was just another patient. They didn’t seem to even know my condition. My husband and I decided that I should pay the extra and go back to Dr. Whorton for better care. He's taken great care of my dad while in the hospital! Patient, doesn't rush. Speaks to you direct but kindly. Was not aggressive in his approach or care. I would recommend Dr Whorton.
I have been diagnosed with fibrous tissue masses "Penetrating" the transverse, descending, rectosigmoid colon, diverticulosis of the small bowel & carcinogenic presence in the transverse colon. The breaches of my colon/intestines are effecting my heart & the main reason of being admitted to a Heart Hospital. Dr Whorton ordered chemicals in tests that are stated to be contraindicated with those of my diagnosis. Harm has been done to my health because he refused to adhere to these directions
I had a great visit with Dr. Whorton today. He was kind, professional, took the appropriate amount of time to speak with me, and was very helpful. I highly recommend him as a GI doc in Norman.
