I lived here for two years and really enjoyed it. Great layout, clean, well built and no issues with maintenance or noise. The employees at the front desk were all very pleasant and helpful and the property manager, Imani, was always responsive. All units are equipped with the nest to control your air and heat which was nice and you could control it from your phone. Great location, can walk or take the train almost anywhere. The gym has everything you need and every time I used it there were only 3 people in there max at the... read more
Had a great time living here. Great location, nice modern apartments but the real factor making it a positive living experience was the staff. Very friendly, responsive and helpful. Specially Imani, the property manager. Always answered my questions in a timely manner, with a fantastic attitude and made things easier no matter the request. Would recommend !
They will nickel and dime you for damage you didn't cause and expect steep annual rent increases and is way above market for the quality of unit you're getting here. The front door and maintenance staff are great, but management will screw you every way they possibly can. The amenity package isn't worth what you pay. The gym is tiny and so is the pool deck. You'll find better deals in River North or just about anywhere else in the city.
There are so many issues living at The Oakwood. For one, they bait you with a very low rent year one, and then raise it substantially the next year. They raised mine by $550, and several others in the building that I’ve talked to. Compared to surrounding buildings with better pricing, the amenities are disappointing. The gym is small and the equipment is old. The pool is small and shaded most of the day. It’s impossible to sleep. The train is loud but on top of that there are police sirens and car alarms ALL NIGHT. You can’t... read more
Don't do it. This building used to be worth the price but they raised rents drastically. The amenities suck for the rates they are trying to charge. The pool is small and shaded most of the day. The gym is small and lacks up-to-date equipment. You will find better rates and better amenities in all the surrounding buildings. The street does not feel safe, I have woken up to the sound of gunshots on multiple occasions.
