Only reason we went there is because we had a gift-card. We've been there before and from the past the food is average or sub-par when it comes to cooking and present their meat dishes. This night they really slaughterd their prime rib dish horrible unpalatable. I asked for medium rare and got raw undercooked chewy pig tar.
I have eaten here a couple of times with clients and have come away with the same impression each time that this is just another in a long list of chain steakhouses that always manager to serve a pretty good steak but nothing ever really says wow. The best steak that I have ever had in Omaha and possibly anywhere for that matter is Prestige which is just a few minutes down the street. Obviously they put their money into the building hoping that us dumb folks from Omaha would not notice that they are using inferior cuts of beef.
If Johnny's keeps this standard of food and service it will be around long after many others have closed. Great food and excellent service.
that Johnny's manages to survive over the crappy chain restaurants. Fantastic food, historic atmosphere. I'm thrilled we have this blast from the past. Steaks are to die for!
When I die and go to heaven, they will serve me Johnny's chateaubriand. Why would any fool eat at a chain restaurant in Omaha, Nebraska? Johnny's is perfect. If it's good enough for Jack Nicholson, it's good enough for me.
