I've been going to John for ten years! – I could never find anyone I liked to color or cut my hair in the suburbs. I actually didn't know my hair could grow down to my shoulders. Every stylist insisted on cutting it to the point I assumed, in middle age, it just didn't grow long. I also could not find a colorist I liked in the suburbs. Not sure why those other reviews are so mean! – I don't know why the two reviews from 2008 are so negative; I have never had a bad experience at this salon. Here is my review: John has been coloring my hair to perfection for about 6 years. I had someone (frankly, less expensive) cutting my hair at another salon. But when she left and I couldn't track her down, I started having John do both my cut and color, and I have left the salon feeling and -- I think -- looking fabulous every time. My hair is not a lawn to be mowed and I am not a person to be put down. – I went into this salon one day off of Oak Street fully expecting a respectable and professional hair experience. All I wanted was a bob. A simple BOB! Well ok it wasnt as short as i wanted it, and he said it would shrink to shorter when it dryed naturally. Maybe it might do that if I cut it myself first. rediculous! – I have been going to John for a while. I used to like the way he did my hair. I really dont feel that he is trying very hard anymore. I am very disappointed in the way that he treats people. I witnessed his abuse on some of his employees for a while here and i can't really recommend him anymore. I may continue to go to him since he manages to come close at least to the color that I want, It is never exactly what I want, he usually has to spend up to even 4 hours , redoing and redoing it , and still it never get... read more
