I moved to Kingston two years ago and in that time I have found that all but one mechanic I had gone to gave only adequate or sub-par service, and it kinda felt like "patchwork" repair, even the so called reputable ones. A good friend recommended JAS and described how they take time (use pictures and video) to explain what they find with my vehicle. I've never really left a review, but will absolutely take the time to recommend John's Auto. Friday evening my partner and I found out truck couldn't shift into drive, we called John's and they thankfully took it in and we were able to get it looked at come Monday. I absolutely feared the worst, thinking the transmission or something big, scary, and expensive had went on the truck. Of all things involved, a walnut was causing the shifter to get blocked. This was my first time dealing with this business. They were professional, thorough and easy to communicate with. I do not think anyone really likes taking their car to an auto shop but this was definitely a positive experience.
My son’s car had a clutch hydraulic failure and we had it towed to John’s based on the positive reviews. Unfortunately the technician refused to do the work on the car because he deemed it was unsafe to put on the hoist. The interaction with my son was poor and they ridiculed him on the phone and told him to remove the car immediately. Replacing the clutch slave cylinder does not require the car to be on the hoist and can be performed while the car is on the ground.
