The emergency section is great, was seen promptly however once you’re admitted as an inpatient things get progressively worse. My mum has stayed over a week with multiple and sometimes repeated testing including ct scan, mri scans, blood tests. That’s all great but on the 8th day, they wanted to do yet another mri scan and do more blood tests. I’m not a doctor but how many mri scans and blood tests are needed in a week? Recently had a quick trip to the emergency department at John Fawkner. Overall the experience was good, but a few issues as a fellow health professional who has worked in public, private and emergency healthcare were apparent. When I arrived the clerical admission was prompt and the clerical staff member was friendly, and attentive. I then waited nearly one hour to be triaged by a nurse, and my admitting complaint was chest discomfort. I am profoundly grateful for the treatment I received at John Fawkner Private Hospital. All interactions with each and every staff member made me feel valued and cared for. For five days in the Critical Care Isolation Ward I was completely dependent on an incredible team of amazing people. I recently had a 3 night stay at John Fawkner after having a total knee replacement. The staff were attentive, professional, friendly and caring. The hospital rooms have been refurbished and well maintained and in excellent condition for a hospital that is over 80 years old. The food was adequate for what you expect in a hospital. Keep up the good work.
