Dr. Selle is a good physician. Unfortunately, I will be leaving the practice. They now require a $199 yearly membership fee even if I don’t have any visits, and I’m not willing to participate in that model. I was unaware in 2024 that the practice had shifted to a fee‑based membership, as the notice sent through MyChart was not seen. Most of my family members were patient’s under Dr. Selle’s care for many years. We didn’t realize until we switched practitioners, due to insurance changes, just how badly he had been managing all of our health. He specifically left my mom with untreated high cholesterol, chronic physical pain, and ongoing mental illness for years. Beyond their subpar medical care, their receptionist Sheyli does little to help ensure appointments are kept or their schedule is accurate. Dr Selle is an amazing doctor, you can be completely honest with him and he will help you with no judgment. You don’t feel pushed out the door he makes sure your concerns are heard and has a great network for referrals if you need a specialist.

I’m very disappointed with my experience at Dr. John Selle’s office in San Francisco, largely due to the conduct of his medical assistant. Unfortunately, my experience closely mirrors what many other reviewers have described. The medical assistant was rude, dismissive, and unwilling to help, with a tone that was condescending and unnecessarily hostile.
