I don't even know where to begin with this man. Our normal doctor was out of town and we were directed to visit his office. Upon showing up the staff was very friendly and professional. The office itself is very nice and clean. Once we got into the room after the assistant left Mr.s Hayden enters the room. The first thing he does is reach for gloves but the box was empty. Follow up appointment after my Child was diagnosed with influenza and prescribed antibiotics ear infection. He was very short with me and condescending. Questioning why I took my son to the ER for 100.5 fever a second time. I asked for specialist referral he refused. He acted as though I was wasting his time by bringing my child in. No bedside manner.

Joel Hayden saw my daughter for burns on her hands in June,& sent my wife home with gauze,a prescription for painkillers,& instructions for my wife to treat my daughter herself and contact the burn center in a day or 2. I immediately took her to the AZ burn center, where I was told that if we had followed his instructions, they would have had to amputate two of her fingers by the next day. As it was,she was admitted immediately,had surgery the next day,plus 3 more surgeries needed. Terrible MD!

As a first time parents we didn't know what to expect from a pediatrician. And thought what our visits were like were normal. But realized they aren't when other parents asked me about certain milestones. I went in for my daughter coughing and being very congested. It's now been 2 1/2 months and she's still suffering. Went to a diff banner children's doctor and she is prescribing her antibiotics for a sinus infection and ALSO noticed my daughters flat spot (which he NEVER even brought it up.

He was very rude and made me feel like another number. I told him what was wrong with my child and he dismissed the main issue. I asked if my child was dehydrated because he hasn't been eating or drinking and he told me "we don't do iv's here... You'll have to go to the hospital". From check in to the time I got back to my vehicle was 18 minutes. That includes the check in (with several other people in the waiting room), nurse doing vitals, the "Dr visit" and check out. I'll never be back.

I brought my son in for his 6 month well check, Dr.Hayden made me feel like we were just another number. He asked me if there were any concerns and the ones I did share with him, he seemed to not care and talked down to me like I was an idiot. He did not ask me one question about my child's development ( crawling, babbling, eating/sleeping habits) He did a quick check of his ears and he was off. I stopped him to ask what percentile my son was at and he said it would be written down for me.

Terrible! Took my son in for a hospital follow-up. Dr. Hayden didn't seem to want to hear what the other doctors thought. Was very short and questioned the hospital doctors for not giving my son meds that treats came back negative for. Such a waste of time and money!!!

I have been taking my 9 and 2 year old to see Dr. Hayden since they were born. I have recommended him to many family and friends. He is excellent with the boys and does not push prescriptions.
