I brought a 4g63 cylinder head in here for a standard cleaning one would expect from any machine shop. I dropped it off Friday, was quoted $40 and told it would be ready in a couple of days. Monday i get a call saying it's ready. Tuesday i pick up. They want $65 plus tax. I scoff stating i was quoted $40. I get a response something along the lines of "Well it's $65, so unless you want to leave it here...". The gasket surfaces weren't clean. There was still a bit of grease embedded in the casting. 12/16/15 If you have them do your work make sure you bring your own bottle of lube so its not as painful as it was for me! I was getting my boat ready for the upcoming fishing season and called them to see if they could cleanup my Holly 600 carb ,it worked perfect but was really dirty and may need a little TLC. I explained that I had less then a week before season opened and could they get it done in that time frame. Jims response was "no problem" so I told him I would pull it and drop it off. He insisted that he ... read more

I worked for Jim many years. I've seen an entire turnover of employees. Before me and after me. I've worked at 4 automotive machine shops over the years. Got ASE certified engine builder in my twenties. This was the first place I've worked that would not help employees get parts or allow anything to be done for your self. I had to take my own engine work to another shop. After 2 years of my camaro just needed a valve job. I was fired for taking my heads to another shop. I wasn't going another year with my camaro down.

After tearing the engine apart 1 year later, we found that old gaskets were not removed, and new placed over the top. Intake bolts were never tightened, It leaked one quart of oil every 600 miles. Two of Jim's ex mechanics who left him, report the same issues with other customers. Business owners adjacent to Jim's shop also echo this history. Be forewarned. There are o... read more
