My complaint centers around failure of staff to properly mask, despite entering into the 4th year of the SARS2/COVID-19 pandemic. After a mammogram, the tech approached me in the waiting room to discuss a matter with me. Just before speaking, she LOWERED her mask to talk to me. It was pretty shocking for 2 different reasons: One, a HCW should know by 2023 that pulling down a mask to speak defeats the purpose of wearing a mask, especially while we are still in a pandemic. A year ago, my breast cancer was detected in my annual mammogram. The radiologist said it could not have been detected by self-examination, only by a mammogram. It was very early stage & I was treated at the City of Hope with a lumpectomy & radiation. Piece of cake. Today, I returned to have my diagnostic 3-D mammogram and am celebrating a year of remission from breast cancer.
