Long time patient of Dr. Schoonmaker. Covid was a real challenge but I think it was for all patients and PCP’s. That being said, it was most likely a learning curve and we have all taken something away from that experience. Dr. Schoonmaker seems to be much more attune to patients needs and fears. She goes the extra mile to make sure the patient is comfortable and all questions are answered. My husband and I have been patients for 16 years. We were so pleased in the beginning but since Covid we feel we are victims of neglect. It’s nearly impossible to get through to the doctor because of the way staff has been programmed to screen calls. The only way to communicate is through the portal and on average you can wait 3-5 days for a response and it is seldom from the PCP but from staff. PMA is making a serious effort to keep patients safe, but their check-in procedure and signage is confusing. I got a call in advance to let me know I should call a certain number from the parking lot 15 minutes before my appointment. I did. The person asked me if they should call or text me once the room was sanitized and I could enter the bdlg. Great. I said text. Then I got a text that said Welcome to PMA, etc. Hmmmm.
