If you are overweight at all, I don’t recommend this doctor. Every time I saw her about the same issues, she reiterated that my issue was simple: lose weight. Eventually had to find a new doctor to find that I was so fatigued due to an autoimmune disease, PCOS, and metastatic thyroid cancer… Down 50 lbs and am halfway to being cancer free no thanks to Dr. Portillo!
So thankful that I decided to switch doctors. I saw Dr. Portillo for a few years and continuously complained about fatigue, depression, menstrual irregularities, and difficulty losing weight. Dr. Portillo made me feel so dismissed every time. Her only recommendation was antidepressants and to lose weight. I was trying to lose weight and working as an elementary school teacher. Went to Dr. Portillo for several years and saw her multiple times regarding chronic fatigue, depression, weight gain, and irregular cycles. Dr. Portillo advised me that my symptoms were all connected to my weight and that I just needed to focus on weight loss.
