Have you checked your car’s belts and hoses recently? Cold temperatures can wreak havoc on rubber car parts, so now that the weather’s warmer, you’ll want to see what shape your belts and hoses are in.

After an icy winter where roads have had sand or rocks spread on them to fight the ice, your car might have windshield damage. Be sure to get any dents or cracks fixed! Not only can they impair your visibility, they can weaken your windshield, causing safety issues in the event of an accident.

Cold Midwestern temperatures can really do a number on your car’s battery, so it’s a good idea to get your battery tested after a long winter. Not only can a mechanic check that you have a strong charge, they can also check that the battery isn’t loose and that it’s clean overall and free from corrosion.

Be honest: Did you hibernate all winter and put off getting an oil change? It’s a good idea to get your oil changed every 3,000 – 7,500 miles; we recommend checking your car’s owner manual to see what’s right for your car.

It’s harder for car batteries to operate in cold weather than warm weather, so if your battery was on its last leg in the summer… it could die in the winter. A quick battery test can let you know if yours needs replacing!
