Went here at 19 and let me just say that if you made me choose between going to this mental hospital or having the characters from yellowjackets eat me alive, I'd choose getting eaten alive. This place made me lose complete faith in the already failing mental health system of Jersey. Also ur nurses love to threaten to tell the doctor to give people more time for reasons that certainly did not require it, a complete abuse of power and intimidation. The lack of empathy in this place is truly astonishing.
Unfortunately, my child has been to crisis numerous times and every time discharged without any referrals or recommendations. Most recently , on 1/6 , she was brought in and the staff said they would make referrals to PHP/ IOP but, we had to follow up. I followed up today and one of their “referrals” is closed. My family and I have never had a positive experience here.
I stayed inpatient youth this past October. It is one of the worst medical experiences I have ever had. The night shift is disgustingly incompetent with a tendency to not care or outright insult patients. While I was having a migraine they refused me medication. The psychiatrist tried to refuse me, someone with bipolar disorder, a mood stabilizer. This place should be shut down immediately!!! My son was there and should have been sent to a psychiatric hospital bc he hears voices and stopped taking his medication. This hospital released him and never even notified anyone. Thank god I was calling there nonstop! Place is absolutely HORRIFIC and should NOT be dealing with people who have mental health issues. Kind and caring people. Unfortunately though, medical decisions are controlled by insurance companies and not by therapists or doctors. No matter your situation or how much care you need, they will step you down to inappropriately sufficient care as soon as they possibly can.
