This morning I couldn't find the trim paint for a room in my house. I keep records... but for some reason the notes I made are missing. I had a can of the wall paint, which was dated, so I could narrow the timeframe down to the Spring of 2013. Jay-K keeps records and we were able to check my file and find the color and type of paint.
