We rented a home from Jaqua on Lake Michigan near St. Joseph. Upon arrival the outside garbage was beyond overfilled. When entering the home we found sheetrock dust on the stairway, an oven that didn't work, beds that weren't made and pans with the Teflon peeling so badly we couldn't cook with them (We purchased groceries at a local market to have dinner and ended up ordering out). Rental side of Jaqua is the complete opposite of there realtors. The only thing they make sure gets done in a professional time frame, is raising the rent. Absolutely the worst management company I have ever delt with. There seems to be no level of presentation or honor in any actions I've witnessed. Everything from dirty water(parking lot drains into the same aquifer as the well) with no pressure to flooding our buildings. Lived in one of their managed places for 2.5 years. Never made a maintenance request, so can't comment on their response to that. Please wait until the last moment to tell them you are leaving, they will run 20 appointments through a week while you are living there. Made to pay last months rent when I told them it was open to lease and they dinged my security deposit for removing items that were there when I moved in. Typical corporate management.
Rental property management is extremely slow to respond to maintenance requests. (Water from ceiling? 3 days. Nonfunctioning lock on front door? 4 months and counting. Replace broken sink in bathroom? 4 months and counting.) Edit to add: After moving out I now feel comfortable adding that the water problems from the ceiling never were fixed in the remaining several months of our stay.
