Spoiled Tuna – We've got spoiled tuna in our order which smelled and tasted awful. Unfortunately my wife noticed it too late after she had eaten a piece. We complained to a waiter and all she had done was taking the cost of an uneaten piece of the bill. So we not only had not received any apologies but had to pay for the eaten spoiled piece. Other types of sushi were tasteless and low quality.

Great food & trendy setting! With the booming of Japanese sushi places being this trend here in the major cities of the United States, one cannot be ignored of the many new Japanese sushi places popping up around town and Seattle is one of those world-class cities where the trend seems to be hovering amidst the dining experience. Seattle has many sushi places to offer and one of the ones that I seem to being returning to quite frequently is Japanese Gourmet (Ajinobo). This restaurant is one of my regular lunch haunts, but I ... read more

Worst Cutsomer Service EVER!!!!! – Long wait for waitress to take order for lunch for 2. My lunch special took 1/2 hour to arrive. I never got my appetizer. My husbands lunch never arrived. Everyone else who ordered after us had been served. After an HOUR we decided to ask for our check so we could leave. The waitress said we had to wait for my husbands food even though he had not been served. She said we would have to pay for it and take it to go. At this point we were fed up and refused to pay for something that was never ... read more

What the worst Japanese restaurant it was. – Very slow taking order. Wine was served by cracked glass. Staff forgot order. No water re-fill or green tea service. No Japanease or very poor English cpability. I will never come back to this restanrant.

I will definetly be back! – Seattle is full of Japanese restaurants which all taste the same, so when you find one that stands out, you remember it. That is how I feel about this restaurant. The ambiance leaves a little to be desired but in a way, it is much like traditional restaurants in Japan. The seafood is very fresh and the sushi is superb! It would seem that being next to Pike Place Market offers them an opportunity to get a variety of fresh ingredients! I particularly loved the spider roll and caterpillar roll.

Definitely worth checking out. – Before I review this restaurant I want to get one thing straight, I have never been to Japan. However I love Japanese food and have eaten in many, many restaurants. The food in Japanese Gourmet is without doubt the best I have tasted; the sushi is fresh and there are usually some specials to try and the Teriyaki is to die for! This isnt a romantic restaurant but if you find yourself downtown or by Pike Place and fancy a bite you could do a lot, lot worse than eat here. I heartily recommend it... read more
