Probably the best landlord I've ever had. Certainly the nicest. Very hands-on and involved; he once personally responded to pluming concerns on a Sunday with one-hour notice. His in-house contractor team is very professional and handled all concerns we ever had, except a very large maintenance concern that was really more of a remodelling arrangement that had to be coordinated with the owner of the property. James was easily the best landlord we had in Ithaca: responsive, prompt, competent, and renting at a competitive price for the area. We were also lucky to learn that he's a friendly neighbor. If we were to ever look at renting in Ithaca again, we would start with his listed vacancies.
I rented from James for 7 years. He is, put simply, a fabulous landlord who truly delivers on his business promise of hospitality and putting people first. His properties offer amazing space and quality for the price, and you can tell he cares about you as a human being. I rented a property at the Cliffside Terrace apartments at 405 Lake Street for 3 years and had a really positive experience living there. James was quick to respond to any issues that arose, and the apartment had a lot of amenities—plenty of storage space, a patio, heat/AC that worked well and I could adjust to suit my comfort, and washers/driers on the premise.
