My husband had a BAD corneal eye infection, and Dr. Shade was able to get him in the same day. My husband had these infections in the past, and they can snowball from bad to worse in just a few hours. If not treated, it can lead to blindness. Dr. Shade did a thorough evaluation and prescribed some RX drops. Dr. Shade saw my husband 2 days later to check his progress. Dr. Shade is great!
I have been seeing Dr. Shade since we moved back into the area around 2007. He is thorough, and listens well, working outside of the box, open to any suggestions to help you see to the best of your ability. Most of all, he is a wonderful person and cares about you and your eyes!

Dr. Shade is thorough in his examination, very competent, and very knowledgeable. My daughters, grandson, in-law, my husband and I have been going to him for years. My husband had a detached retina and surgery with Duke was arranged that day. He explained what it was and every thing that would happen to my husband with the surgery and was as he described. Much appreciated. He is easy-going and makes patient feel comfortable with his exam.
