Richmond Homes was a terrible experience for us—buyers beware. We lost $14,000 in earnest money even though we requested to cancel just 18 hours after signing. The worst part? Richmond Homes hadn’t even signed the contract yet, but they still refused to let us back out. Even more concerning, they had us pay earnest money before we even signed—an unusual and highly questionable practice. Be cautious when dealing with this company. Richmond American refused to reimburse the earnest money even though they had not yet signed the contract themselves. In fact, the contract was not signed by Richmond American for several days. Though phone calls were made directly to th... read more
A young first time home buyer, also a family member, recently felt pressured to sign a contract with Richmond Homes for a new house. Within 18-20 hours of signing, upon discovering some undisclosed high costs for landscaping and other items for that location, determined they could no longer afford the home. Richmond Homes would not budge at all and had no empathy for the situation and has vowed to keep all the earnest money. So sad to see this happen to a first time home buyer.
