The ladies in J. Matheson are so sweet and caring, like everybody's aunties or grandmas. Having a bad day? Just step inside and enjoy the soothing spa/romantic/meditation music playing, and your troubles melt away as you explore the hundreds of products you wouldn't see in any typical store. Absolute gem of a store, so sad it's closing.
I wouldn't step a foot in J. Matheson. Several years ago when I was in the store, I took an item upto the register. The owner told me that it had been marked wrong and that it was actually a higher price (by $5-$10). When I told her that I felt she should sell it for the price marked, she became very rude and said "I don't need your business! I have doctors and lawyers wives who shop here!". Any time I need to find a gift for someone, or for me, I can find it here. Judy is always so helpful and kind. I do not like shopping, but I love this local jewel of a store!
