Our neighbor came to us with a request to remove the hedge separating our properties and replace it with a block dividing wall. We gave our okay and they contracted J.H. Builders to do the work. Instead of removing the bushes in the usual manner (i.e., cutting them off then either grinding down the stumps or removing them with axe and shovel), they chose to drive a truck onto my lawn and yank the bushes out with a chain.
