Do NOT go to this office or you will regret it. Dishonest, deceptive; no integrity. Never imagined a doctor's office would be this unprofessional. I had Blue Cross/Blue Shield (BC/BS) insurance for 24 years. Moved to FL in 2017 and looked for a dentist on BC/BS In-Network/PPO list, which Dr. Helmy was on. At first appointment Marianne Helmy (doctor’s wife) said office policy was they needed payment up-front. I never paid PPO doctors up-front before. She said they would file a claim with BC/BS and any over payment would be refunded. I never received an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from BC/BS. In Feb. 2018 I had second appointment and again paid up-front and didn’t receive an EOB so I called and Marianne said a claim was filed and “you have to wait." In Sept 2018, at third appointment I told Marianne I never received any EOBs for the previous appointments. Marianne claimed they were filed, but said all three appointment would be filed. I paid up-front again, and asked for a physician statement for all my appointments, which I never previously received. It contained appointments I never had and mistakes. After two weeks I called BC/BS and they had no record of any claim from Dr. Helmy. They provided forms so I could file a claim myself, which I did in Oct. 2018. BC/BS sent me the EOB and said based on my plan I over paid $174.30 for three appointments. I called and Marianne said she had not received anything from BC/BS, so I sent her my EOB. BC/BS sent a $60 check and EOB to Dr. Helmy's address on file. For months, during many calls from BC/BS, Marianne claimed they never received the check because their address was wrong with BC/BS. (This was a lie) A second check was mistakenly sent to the old address. After months of calls from BC/BS, Marianne refused to change the address in the BC/BS system because she did not want the check from BC/BS and did not want to settle the claim and give me a refund. After months I asked BC/BS what address they sent the checks to. I looked on the county property website and it was Dr. Helmy and Marianne’s home address. She lied to me and BC/BS on every call. I informed BC/BS and a Network Mgr called to force them to change their account to the office address. On February 8, 2019, a third check was mailed to the office and a month later BC/BS called and Marianne claimed a third time she had not received the check. She is that pathetic. More calls from the Network Mgr and she admitted they received the check and cashed it in April 2019. Another month and more calls from BC/BS for me to get a refund check. I insisted I pick-up the check because they are so dishonest and desperate to not refund my money I knew they would lie about mailing a check to drag this out longer. I got the check in May 2019, eight months after I filed the claim, and after 30+ phone calls to BC/BS. The fact she and Dr. Helmy thought they could do this is incredible. They do not care about BC/BS policies and had no intention of filing claims with any insurance company. If you read other reviews it’s clear they want to be on PPO lists to get new patients, but won’t abide by policies because they want to charge more than the plan allowance. They don't file claims and lie about it because they know it will mean lower claim amounts. You pay premiums for decades and a doctor’s office like this tries to steal more money from you. All of her lies about filing the claims and I “had to wait” was a stall tactic hoping I would go away. I thought she was colossally incompetent, but her lying and refusal to follow instructions from BC/BS made it clear she and Dr. Helmy intentionally do this. During calls to Marianne you hear a baby yelling, which is documented by other complaints. Very unprofessional for a doctor’s office. Their priority isn’t patient care or service. I don’t care how desperate you are for a dentist, avoid this place.
