Thought it was better to support local. They're really not much different. Worse actually, since they hold your entire cheque with zero released funds if you deposit your cheque through your mobile app. With bigger banks like RBC you have access to at least some of your funds through mobile deposit. Annoying and disappointing.
Friendly staff but they consistently make banking mistakes that are incredibly important. 1) business account connected my chequing account that was screwed up and "belongs" to my husband and he's the only one who can make transfers out of there. 2) filled out a payroll form incorrectly and my pay got lost... Not retrieved at this time. 3) gave the wrong information for a wire transfer resulting in "lost" 15k (later retrieved, but wtf?!)

I’m incredibly disappointed with my recent experience with Island Savings Credit Union. My company issued a cheque for $16,651.00, which the Credit Union initially processed incorrectly. After issuing a replacement cheque as advised by the bank, I was shocked to find out that Island Savings redeposited the original cheque as well, resulting in a duplicate payment to my client.
