During our daughter’s one year preventative checkup, my wife mentioned that she was getting over a cold. Since this was mentioned, per UVA Irene billed it as a separate doctor’s visit which was not covered by insurance even though no testing, diagnosis, treatment, or “medical decision making” was provided. We recommend using a different pediatrician with ethical billing practices or to not mention any of your child’s previous illnesses, conditions, or medical concerns unless you are willing to pay a separate doctor’s visit.
