Requiring an office visit for a "meet and greet", as it was described to me, before you can schedule a visit for actual medical care, is ridiculous in the literal sense of that word. I offered to book back-to-back appointments and even pay for one out of pocket to avoid the inconvenience of making two trips for one episode of care and was told no, this is the "sequence at our practice".
