Outrageous towing fee – I recently had my vehicle break down on the Interstate, a long way from home. Via the Highway Patrol, I was hooked up with Interstate Garage. I was shocked to find that the towing charge was $225, plus $4.50 per mile. That adds up to $270 to have your disabled vehicle towed 10 miles, $230 to have it towed only 1! Unfortunately, my tow was closer to 100 miles. Do the math. It seems as if stranded motorists are prey for Interstate Garage (which is not a garage, just a towing service).
