I am a regular at the 225 Franklin Street Intelligenstia. Isaac and Cole are spirited and talented baristas. Isaac has even taught me about perfecting my Iced Americano order - adding an espresso shot. These are good people, and I enjoy seeing them daily.
Coffee is fine. The barista didn’t ask if I wanted it to go but made it in a paper cup anyway. When I expressed disappointment, he poured 2/3 of it in a glass cup and handed it to me. When I still looked disappointed he seemed frustrated and asked if I wanted him to remake it. I hated the coffee to go to waste (along with the disposable cup that was already wasted) so I said no, but I had to ask again for the other third of my drink, and my coffee has a papery taste. If you’re looking to waste fifteen minutes of your life watching everyone else get their drinks while the staff pretends you don't exist, Intelligentsia is the spot for you. I came in with two people who got their orders almost immediately. Meanwhile, I stood there for over 10 minutes waiting for a Smoked Maple Latte that they clearly had no intention of actually making.
