Inn San Francisco

4.9

About this business

This unassuming house in the Mission District is really a cozy bed and breakfast. Originally built on what was known in the 1870s as Mansion Row, it was owned by John English, a City Commissioner known as the Potato King. It is now restored to its original Victorian elegance and offers individually decorated bedrooms awash with style. The Inn San Francisco is well equipped with guest friendly amenities and services.

What a wonderful experience to live in a victorian house for a few days. It felt like we were back in the day. Our room was very cute and a little quirky. The Inn was well situated for access to both mission and valencia streets and heaps of restaurants. The place is not posh, it's not fancy but it has character, and I'd take that any day over some fancy stale hotel that is twice the price. It's a unique treasure that will make your trip to SF unforgettable.

Even more beautiful than the pictures. We loved our stay here. The Inn has something rare that even the most expensive places I’ve stayed at don’t have — a strong sense of “place”. The staff are wonderful and really care about you enjoying your stay. We sat up on the roof balcony, soaked in the garden cedar hot tub at night, were relieved to find a mini-fridge in the room, borrowed a board game from the sitting room, and loved the extensive continental breakfast. The vegetarian quiche was delicious. I don’t usually book the ... read more

Absolutely worth a stay if you’re into history and Victorian homes. There’s an incredible breakfast set up every morning. Marty and Liza are such gracious and welcoming hosts and to top it all off, The Inn is nestled in the middle a lively neighborhood with character and delicious Mexican food. You’re within walking distance to BART/fun but you can also find peace and quiet in the garden. I recommend a soak in the hot tub and taking the spiral staircase to the rooftop.

Absolutely loved our stay at The Inn San Francisco! The breakfast buffet was spot‑on—fresh, abundant, and delicious. The staff were incredibly helpful from check‑in to check‑out. And Marty, the owner, was a highlight—passionate about his inn and its rich San Francisco history, making our stay feel warm, personal, and authentic. Highly recommend to anyone looking for charm, character, and great service!

Marty and Lisa were great and I loved the charm of this bed and breakfast. It was a very authentic stay in the mission of San Francisco. A short walk to Dolores Park and all the things you want from the Mission.
