After speaking to several metal workers we all agree IMS is more expensive than others. But the quality of IMS metal is also better! The square tube edges are sharper and not round like the cheap metal. The store selection in amazing.
DO NOT BUY FROM INDUSTRIAL METAL SUPPLY!!... Not only are they the most expensive place to buy metal, but their 'walk-in' customer service is absolutely TERRIBLE!... Every sales person has a different way of totaling your invoice so the price you pay for the same item varies depending on which sales person you get and the mood that they are in, which is usually bad (see 'Moany Tony' for confirmation)...
