I used to love this University. My passion for learning was strengthened here. Now my major is not being valued. They are eliminating necessary programs for our region. They still say they are a "comprehensive university" while quickly and quietly eliminating all of our liberal arts programs.
IPFW is canceling programs that make a difference and produce well rounded students. I'm extremely confident in my choice now not to attend this college. I want my education to prepare me for all perspectives and let me explore different avenues.
"Comprehensive universities" need a wide variety of liberal arts degrees. You can't be comprehensive without Women's Studies, Philosophy, Geosciences, French, etc.
If your goal is to go to a comprehensive university that cares about your education and future goals .... look elsewhere.
This university no longer cares about providing northeast Indiana with a comprehensive education. It is clear they do not understand the value and importance of the degrees and programs they are cutting or suspending. They are forcing academics to pay for a deficit they did not create and as a result, future students will suffer and be unable to get a comprehensive education as promised by the university. Education quality as a whole will suffer, and so will the community of Fort Wayne.
