About this business

Inakaya is a Japanese restaurant in Central Manhattan which boasts a Robata grill which is a traditional Japanese grill. The food is delicious to say the least. It is served amid theatrics with the staff and the diners clapping and chanting between the meal. Everyone is in high spirits with a pleasant staff attending to all the needs. The ambience is a bit loud, great for a friends' evening out. The highlight of the menu is the sushi which is perfectly cooked and extremely memorable. Don't leave anything (coat, bag etc) with the hostess. They don't keep an eye on things and also leave area unattended. My bag was taken by another customer. Only thing I received from them was "sorry, will call you if the bag is returned." Why would my bag be returned if it was stolen? I'm very upset because there were irreplaceable and valuable documents in my bag.

My wife and I had the misfortune of having "dinner" at Inakaya last night. What a mistake this was. The waitress was non-helpful, the atmosphere bordered on depressive, and the "chef" might consider working at McDonald's cooking Filet-O-Fish instead of masquerading as someone who knows and understands how to handle fish. In short, Inakaya is an overpriced tourist trap that should be avoided by anyone looking for quality Japanese food in a welcoming atmosphere.

Great food. Really enjoyed the menu options on the 6-course meal (living social deal). Atmosphere was entertaining!

Great food, great place, supreme quality but too much shouting! :-(
