Perfect Fettuccine Alfredo, lovely house Chianti, excellent! – Very highly recommended: Classic elegance inside, Sinatra cooing in the background, and gracious service. I requested Fettuccine Alfredo though not on the menu - it was PERFECT. Not too heavy, creamy, generous sauce, and fresh noodles cooked al dente. The Chiante house wine, generously poured, is quality. Excellence throughout.
Great Lunch @ Il Fornaio Beverly Hills – I've never been disappointed by Il Fornaio in Beverly Hills. I like to go there every couple of months to try something new. They have a diversified menu; I really like their appetizers always made with top quality and fresh ingredients: I would recommend their bruschettas, clamaretti fritti, and prosciutto with melon. They also have delicious soups full of flavors (usually in the specials). My favorite pasta dishes: tagliatelle alla bolognese and pennoni alla vodka. Great place to go... read more
Delicious Lasagna – The food at Il fornaio is consistenly delicious. I had the lasagna with the bechemel sauce, the beet salad and the tirmisu and all of it was great. The service is excellent as well. The experience is so wonderful at this restaurant that one takes it for granted. The Burlingame location is also fantastic.
Consistently Excellent – Pizza or Pasta, Grilled Chicken or Fish, Il Fornaio always delivers a delicious meal, perfectly prepared with delicious flavors. Recently, I've been taking advantage of the Passport where each month the chef features cuisine from a region of Italy. I know they've been doing this for years but I just started taking advantage of it. The only drawback is if you miss one month you cannot qualify for the grand drawing which is a trip to Italy. It's taken me some time to appreciate Il Fornaio since I've be... read more
VIVA ITALIANO! – My husband and I wondered in here one Thursday evening and were thrilled to find that they featured excellent, Authentic Italian food! I would dare to say it is the best in Laguna Beach. Everything from the wait staff to the food is authentic Italian. I will definitely be back soon.
Faithful since the Stanford Court Hotel I had the best Caponata(sp?) since I used to make it 20+ years ago, maybe better! (Can I have your recipe?) and then there's the superb bread, and the thoughtful service, and it seems natural to eat this cuisine out of doors, so I wish for lots of patio space. It always feels like going to lunch/dinner at an Italian friends' home, as it has been since the 70's at the Stanford Court Hotel. mr

Ok in a pinch, room for improvement. – Six of us stopped here for lunch after an event at the convention center. Convenient location and no wait for seating as well as a menu most of the group could agree upon made this a good option. I had the Insalata di Bietole (beet salad) which was delicious and split a margherita pizza with a friend. The pizza was good, pretty standard and similar to versions I've had elsewhere. For being practically empty on a Saturday afternoon, the service was sub-par both in speed and quality.
Disappointed – The salad and bread were fine. The wine list very good. But the butternut squash-stuffed ravioli was marginal at best. Very oily, pasta inferior -- thick, heavy. Inedible. The waiter did not come by to ask if we liked it. He took the full plate of food away and did not even bother to ask if we would have preferred something else. We will not be going back.
