I grew up just s few blocks from Ideal Grocery in the 1950s, and at that time, my dad owned 27th & O Drugstore a few more blocks away. My mom and I loved Ideal grocery. I have not lived in Lincoln since the early ‘60s, but Ideal still holds a very special place in my heart. I was just sick when I heard Ideal had burned down. There goes my old neighborhood. I hope they have or will rebuild, even though I know it will never be the same. Wonderful memories of long ago....
Just thinking of how much I love and miss the store. There are still no words for how sad I am to have lost Ideal.
Every goods are placed on their proper order, making shopping as easy as possible for customers like me. I love this place.
I miss Ideal Grocery so very much!!! It doesn't look like you will be rebuilding! Please tell me that it isn't so!! I have so many pleasant memories from the times that I shopped @ Ideal!! The frozen food sales, the wonderful peaches & pears that I canned, the great variety of teas, the wide types of unusual and delicious food......memories!!! The friendly staff was so helpful & pleasant!! Miss you!!! :'(
THE IDEAL SUPERMARKET HAS EXCELLENT FOOD AND THE WORKERS ARE GREAT. AND I ADORE THEIR MANAGER RANDY PHILIPS OVER ON 29ST AND 9TH AVE IN CHELSEA. GO THERE YOU GET SOME GREAT BUYS GALORE
Our entire family loved Ideal. Conveniently located near our home, staff was always friendly and helpful. My husband really enjoyed their meat department. I loved the fact that even though they weren't that big, they always had what I needed; basics like milk, eggs, orange juice, or the exotic; like imported black lentils, Mina Harissa, truffle oil, etc. I sure hope the store is rebuilt. My son (8) has been talking about getting a job there as soon as he's old enough probably since he was 5!
I never fail to find what I need at this store. Items are organized in a manner that helps customers shop easily and with ease. Great job.
