got engineered hardwood installed in our basement rec room which i didnt even know was an option down there tbh. Oscar recommended it because of moisture concerns with the concrete slab. they put down a vapor barrier first then floated the engineered planks on top. went with a hickory look, wider planks. the variation in the grain pattern is really nice, not that uniform fake look you get with laminate. feels warm underfoot even in winter which was the whole point since the kids hang out down there basically every weekend
We needed someone to install engineered hardwood in our condo and Oscar's team was great. They dealt with a tricky concrete subfloor that wasn't perfectly level and used self-leveler in the low spots before installing. The floating floor clicks together perfectly and there's no bounce or hollow spots when you walk on it. Very happy with how it turned out.
Oscar came by on Sunday to give me the estimate which was super convenient for us. He explained everything clearly and didn't pressure us. The crew showed up when they said they would and knocked it out fast. Good people doing good work.
I appreciated how meticulous they were with the perimeter sanding. A lot of companies use big drum sanders and leave those curved edges near the baseboards but Oscar's guys hand sanded everything flat. The corners are crisp and the finish is even wall to wall. They also moved all our furniture and put it back exactly where it belonged. No damage to anything. Just careful professional work from start to finish.
Our bungalow in Park Ridge had original fir floors but they were in rough shape. Years of rugs had left faded areas and someone had used dark filler in the gaps that looked terrible. Oscar's team came out and suggested we go with a natural clear finish to highlight the character instead of trying to hide it. They spent three days sanding with progressively finer grits and hand scraped around the register covers. The grain popped so much more than I expected.
