I have been going to the vascular Center of Abilene getting close to two years. Every four months I go in to have upkeep on my fistula. I decided to use their free screening for my legs because my PCP thinks I have peripheral artery disease. When I got there, as is always the case, it was very clean, and everything seemed to be in order. The girl that took care of me normally helps in the operating room and it took me a minute to recognize her not wearing her scrubs. I was referred to Dr. Gerges for vein mapping in order to have a dialysis fistula created. He only mapped one arm. I didn’t know enough to question it at the time but when I saw my surgeon he was very frustrated at only seeing tests on one arm and he had to do his own ultrasound and chose the arm that Dr. Gerges did not even look at. Therefore Medicare paid Dr. Greges a small fortune for a useless test.
