I never write reviews online, but I feel it is important to warn people of the "care", or lack of, I received from Physician Care in Madison in hopes that no one else has the same experience. Gail Prentice wasn't the provider I had chosen, the pervious NP I was seeing there had left the practice. I wish I had read the reviews before agreeing to be moved to this provider, multiple reviews with only ONE star. I brought my wife to the ER at about 3:00 PM on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 with extremely high blood pressure, 245/112. This was just measured across the street at Huntsville Hospital's Spine and Neuro center. Unfortunately while waiting there several hours later it was announced that the ER is "On lockdown" and everyone is to leave with the exception of patients and someone accompanying a patient who is older than 75 years. I have been a patient for 5 years. My insurance changed and would no longer cover my GERD medication. Called repeatedly to get a prior approval. Over two weeks of busy signals, and recordings. The two times I got a person I was told the nurse would call and she did not. Asked to speak to an office manager and was hung up on. They do not care about their patients! My physician told me to go immediately to the ER because of symptoms I was having with an existing illness. He sent orders for the tests to be run. We arrived and over a 5 1/2 period, I had blood work, chest x-ray and CAT scan. I never saw a physician but was told I would be checked in to stay overnight. DO NOT TRUST THEM!!!! YOU ARE JUST MONEY TO THEM!!! PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS REVIEW BEFORE AGREEING TO SEE ANYONE THERE. They will schedule as many scans, procedures whatever they can to get your money, even if it is not needed. I had a really long review I had posted before, which they got taken down somehow. Absolute worst experience I have ever had with a medical professional. I went in and got a test done for an issue that I had been dealing with for about a month. About a day or two after the test, I could see on the portal the results and the confirmed diagnosis. I waited about a week and then tried sending messages through the portal, tried calling the Office only to have no one answer and have to leave a voicemail for the Doctor's nurse. Dr. Douglas Downey and the V.S.A. team are/were wonderful. From the moment Dr. Downey walked into my room at HH Madison Hospital he was a consummate professional as well as kind and compassionate. He talked to me and not at me. The nurse Sandy (my apologies if I got your name wrong) was equally compassionate, kind and professional. I highly recommend V.S.A. to those in need of their surgical expertise.
Our Dr. Told us to go-to the Emergency room. What a nightmare. Took my 80 year old husband back, made me set in the parking garage. Sat there for 21/2 hours. They were so rude. Will not be back, even though they have a monopoly on Heath care in the Huntsville area.
