I had total left knee replacement May 13th 2020. Before surgery HH request patients participate in joint camp, they try to inform patients what to expect before, during and after surgery. Two things emphasized after surgery was the boots placed on our feet (this helps reduce the possibilities of blood clots), and the spirometer which helps clear the lungs of anesthesia. Transported by HEMSI to Huntsville ER. Held in ER for 6 hrs before seeing DR. DR had me transferred to ICU without coordination with Cardiology. No meds, food or fluids or rest room for 8 hrs. Informed I would have heart cath at 0800 hrs on a Saturday. At ICU told no heart cath; no cardiologist had been contacted. ICU provided sandwich, chips and diet soda. I had a family member stay here a while ago. The doctor basically had him on bed rest with no scds, and no blood thinners. Neither were contraindicated. I spoke to the staff, and the issue was quickly remedied. Unfortunately, this is not the first time this has happened to someone I know. It's a lethal oversight. I dont have any particular person to point out, but I do recommend visiting family members who stay there to review the plan of care. Not everything wrong makes it to court.
