I brought my wife to the ER at about 3:00 PM on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 with extremely high blood pressure, 245/112. This was just measured across the street at Huntsville Hospital's Spine and Neuro center. Unfortunately while waiting there several hours later it was announced that the ER is "On lockdown" and everyone is to leave with the exception of patients and someone accompanying a patient who is older than 75 years. My physician told me to go immediately to the ER because of symptoms I was having with an existing illness. He sent orders for the tests to be run. We arrived and over a 5 1/2 period, I had blood work, chest x-ray and CAT scan. I never saw a physician but was told I would be checked in to stay overnight. After waiting a long time for a bed, i was eventually told there were no beds available and a physician would come talk to me.
