They honored my mom's wishes and were very helpful. She was able to help students learn at her favorite school. You do have to send a written request to receive the ashes of your loved one, but her ashes were returned to me within a few months.

Humanity Gifts Registry (HGR) was professional. If your loved one dies on the weekend, you will not receive a call from them until Monday, which I was a little surprised by. I was disappointed to see that HGR sent us a $800 bill for transporting my father's body one mile from the hospital to the medical school. Penn's medical school certainly has the resources to cover the cost of this transportation.

have to agree with those who benmoan how rude they are on the phone. One person was fine but the next tinme I called, my situation was not related to a deceased person but relative to getting signatures on the registry card. I sadly am pretty much alone and asked could i get it notarized instead. She was almost nasty about itand gave me suggestions that seemed meant to maker me feel worse.

My experience was excellent. My cousin has registered years before he passed. I followed his wishes. I attended the lovely service that was held for those who were donors. My husband and I are now registered.

I called to talk with someone about my dying husband. I have put it off for weeks because I want to honor my husband's desires but it is hard to accept that he is dying and I must deal with this. I got an answering machine. Pretty impersonal.
