If you can make it to another hospital, go to the other hospital. The emergency department is so awful. I was waiting for 1 hour before I got called back and once I was in a room it took another 45 minutes for someone to even come back. It would have taken longer if my mom didn’t go to the nurses station and tell someone that it had been forty five minutes and no one came in to check on me, no one gave me a blanket, nothing. Just had my second baby on 7/15, didn’t have a great experience as I did the first time. I had to keep asking for stuff pain medicine, diapers, bottles, and stuff for myself since they only give you 4 stuff at a time. The night nurses took forever to come check on me. I am so thankful for the nurses who actually took the time to care for me Tiffany, Brooke, and Brooke’s twin sister. I am extremely disappointed with my grandmother’s ER visit. She was seen by a doctor once around 12:30 a.m., but after that, hours went by with little communication. It is now after 5:00 a.m., and we have been left waiting for updates and the next steps in her care. I understand that emergency rooms can be busy and that patients are treated based on the severity of their condition. However, communication is essential. There is 0 urgency in the Emergency Room. Sat for nearly two hours after 6 people went ahead of us after many of them arrived after we were here.
The Emergency Department Pediatrician evidently doesn't care about a child that has poison oak all over him. He would not give him a simple shot to dry the poison oak up. Told us to give him Benedryl like we had not already give him Benedryl. We had tried everything or we would not have brought him to the ED. Its crazy how the medical system has changed to not wanting to help a person that is sick anymore. Its ridiculous!
