I just want to say that since Atrium has taken over Hugh Chatham, that I am amazed and thrilled to have a decent hospital in Elkin! I had to be seen at the emergency room last night , and for the first time in almost 5 years of having to use the emergency room. I was amazed at the staff, the cleanliness of the ER desk and the entire ER, the doctors and everyone who assisted including the nurses radiologist, etc. for the first time in five years was nice, professional, and Thorough in helping me with chest pain. I wish I remembered the name of the PA we had. She was great. Even the young lady at the front desk made me comfortable. I was terrified and they made me feel like I would be ok. Thank you ladies.
3 services in 1 year. 1 billed correctly, 2 billed incorrectly. 1 is almost 11 months past date of service, they coded it incorrectly to my insurance company. 6 visits to billing and physicians office to try and get them to bill correctly. Even had a 3 way call with insurance company and them, insurance company told them exactly what they needed to do to file it correctly. Yet, they did not. I have spent 10 times more of my time trying to fix their billing, than the time they spent for the visit. I don't plan to go back.
If you can make it to another hospital, go to the other hospital. The emergency department is so awful. I was waiting for 1 hour before I got called back and once I was in a room it took another 45 minutes for someone to even come back. It would have taken longer if my mom didn’t go to the nurses station and tell someone that it had been forty five minutes and no one came in to check on me, no one gave me a blanket, nothing.
