Sadly me and my sister took care of our mom at home also under the care of hospice. They were very understanding and compassionate. As sometimes in these situations people can get very mean because they don't like feeling helpless but they had experience with all types of situations. They spoke with me and my sister and if we ever needed or wanted to talk to them all we had to do was say so. After interaction with them why my dad was passing, I would not recommend hospice care to anyone in general. They did not add anything of value to my dad's medical care as the regular nurses did pain management. The Dr with a Russian name and nurse Robertson were unprofessional and bullying when I asked medical questions. Nurse Robertson got me to angrily tell her, in front of my dying dad, "With all due respect, I was calling funeral homes" to which she replied, "Good." Hudson Valley Hospice is a wonderful organization that has a staff who understands the process required to help the patient and the family as well. Nurse Angie is a true professional with outstanding compassion and caring skills, Kate (Social Worker) was incredibly sensitive and present, Chaplain Julie provided comfort with a spiritual connection, Nurse Barb truly added a skill set/dimension needed at a critical phase; I would not hesitate to recommend this organization to care for a loved one in need; angels they all are. Our mom passed under the care of hv hospice and they were amazing throughout the entire process and we can't thank them enough for their care and guidance.
