For years, I have filed my taxes myself. Last year I was audited. Thank the Lord I had every thing in order so the outcome was okay and I received my refund, but as you can imagine it was very stressful and intimidating to deal with the federal government. These people aren't actually experts. I filed my taxes with them and told them I wished to pay off my First Time Home Owners Tax credit in full. When they prepared my taxes for the the year in question. I was told I owed a single dollar in taxes. So there was a standard ten dollar fee for filing late. I told the two "experts" cool I'm not worried about the penalties on a single dollar. No one in that office told me the Tax Credit which I was always informed of was an interest free loan, was in actuality an advance on my Taxe... read more
