Once I saw who he was, I feel like a desperate sucker expecting help or insight from Howard Lambert. I experienced only scorn, seeing him as invalidating and adversarial, using my vulnerability as weaponry against me. His bio states his belief that growth comes from pain, and and hurt I felt from him. My only “growth” from his therapy was the lesson to avoid self-important counselors.
Two stars instead of one because after 6 sessions “Howie” did teach me one thing - what a bad therapist looks like. Much time was spent listening to him… talk about how often he skis, his musicianship, his hiking hobby, his success in real estate. When it came the challenges I wanted to address he was judgemental, dismissive, and impatient. Many competent, effective providers in Denver - so do your homework. Howie is a paper tiger, and his men’s group is a cult.
