Determined later his diagnosis was wrong. It was a cancerous growth.
Dr. Oriba was very rushed, did not want to give me time to ask questions, and he did not let me know that I would get a bill for $200 a week after he used a Cryosurgery, or cryotherapy, mini freeze gun to remove them (HPV) spots on my hands. If I would have known it would cost for $200 for this 5 minute appointment I would not have gone.
It pays to know your own body— if anything seems suspicious. He does very quick exams that seem less than thorough but will tell you right away about something you point out. From that perspective he comes across as very experienced. He does have obvious staff turnover; different assistants come and go. Definitely not the warm, relaxed personality of the late Dr Lo, whom he succeeded. Dr Oriba keeps the appointment very professional, which can feel a bit cold.
I first saw Dr. Oriba years ago when he took over the practice from Dr. Lo. He prescribed a shampoo to treat my itchy scalp and directions for its use. Other than thinking Dr. Oriba was not very personable, he had not made much of an impression on me. The visits were always brief and he did not explain much, but the shampoo worked. After asking a simple question about the referral process during a very rushed consult, Dr. Oriba blew up and started shouting at us that we didn't understand and needed to be quiet and stop talking. He just snapped and was ranting and yelling--he appeared enraged that we had dared to ask any question at all. It was very strange. As we were leaving the office, he continued to shout in the background, and the the office staff was rolling their eyes and whispering to each other. He was very professional, explained everything. He recommended the best treatment to minimize scarring. My husband also had an excellent experience.
