Edit: Phone system is not accessible for the deaf, hearing impaired, those with audio processing disorders, and the neurodivergent (autistic, adhd, and those with TBIs). I suggest porting out to Miami Dade county if you're able to. The county should absorb this department. The city of Miami Beach does not have the capability of running their own housing authority anymore. They are really short staff. Landlord should be careful before accepting section 8. I rented a unit in October 2023, the process was endless (we all know this) but on top of the endless process, they are taking time to pay as if I were rich and could support the section 8 tenant. They accepted my lease in January and until today April I only received 1 month. We are almost in may.

Before the pandemic, the customer service was a 3.9. Since the pandemic and post pandemic, it has been harder to get a hold of a case worker. Even long time clients dating back to the 1980s have trouble receiving quality service. Some clients are switched caseworkers. Some caseworkers do not call clients back or don't hear them out on their concerns. There are a few good staff. Pretty much just setting you up for failure. Horrible communication skills, little to no care about your case. System structure is the lowest I’ve seen but what government office isn’t in Miami dade county? Basically get paid to check a list off and clock home early. Barely get to speak to anyone. No one takes their job seriously enough to even comprehend what exactly it is that they’re doing for the community which is tragic. I truly feel bad for the elderly that need this more than young adults.
