RecommendedI had never been to house of trains but being in business for 40 plus years makes this store worth a visit. Growing up in Des Moines l saw many Hobby shops die. From what I heard from other customers many had said that they are very knowledgeable and helpful. I had first heard of House of Train while being in Omaha for a Creighton Drake game in 1979 and wanted to visit but Nebraska Furniture Mart ate up most of the time

Very friendly and helpful employees, large selections of model trains and slot cars, and cheap (especially when repairing locomotives).
I have been talking to Marci, Dave and the crew over the phone for several months now and they're always very polite and courteous. They are always able to help me with my questions and have even offered some great advice. All of my train purchases arrive in amazing shape and I definitely recommend these guys to anyone and everyone whether they're new or experienced in model railroading.
